Columns is published weekly during the academic year and biweekly during the summer by the UGA Division of Marketing & Communications. In addition to the printed version of the newspaper, there are several other ways to read Columns.
All new full- and part-time UGA employees are added automatically to the mailing list for the paper version of Columns. Those who prefer to read Columns online can opt out of getting the paper version of the newspaper.
The news and features from the print version of Columns are published online at https://news.uga.edu/columns. The website is updated with new content on the same date the paper issue is published. Readers who opt out of the paper version of Columns instead will receive an email the same day the paper version is published.
To opt out of the paper version of Columns:
- Go to the Self Service website and log in with your MyID and password.
- Go to “My Information” and click on “My Personnel Data.”
- Scroll down to the bottom of the page and find “Columns Publication.” The text reads “If you wish to change whether you receive [the paper version of] Columns, click here.” This is a link to the opt-out/opt-in page.
- This page only has one button, and that is to opt-in or opt-out. Choose one or the other. If you do nothing, you will remain on the mailing list and continue to receive the paper version of Columns.
Because the mailing list is generated in advance, it may take several weeks for your name to be removed once you opt out.
Opting out of the paper version of Columns via the Self-Service website is only available for current UGA employees. Retirees and others who want to be removed from the mailing list for the paper version of Columns should send an email to email@example.com.
PDF versions of Columns are available through Issuu. The archive goes back to June 30, 2014.
UGA faculty and staff members with a disability may call 706-542-8017 for assistance in obtaining Columns in an alternate format.
