Elegant Salute raises nearly $100,000 for Georgia Museum of Art programming

The Friends of the Georgia Museum of Art raised nearly $100,000 from ticket sales and event sponsors at its 11th biennial Elegant Salute on Nov. 8.

The event’s construction theme, “A Hardhat Salute,” was inspired by the museum’s groundbreaking on a 30,000-square-foot addition. Money raised from the gala will fund exhibitions and educational programming at the museum. More than 225 guests attended the event co-chaired by Ann Scoggins and Rinne Allen.

Among the evening’s highlights was the announcement of the appointment of Rowland A. Radford Jr., GMOA Board of Advisors’ vice chairman, as a life member of the board. The highest honor bestowed on board members, life membership honors friends, patrons or supporters for long-time loyal service to the museum and its mission. Radford and his wife, Tish, funded both the museum’s teaching gallery and future decorative arts gallery, named in their honor. He also co-chaired the fundraising campaign for the museum’s forthcoming expansion. Radford joins 11 current life members, who also were honored at the event.
