Financial adviser to provide community insight into today’s economy

Griffin, Ga. – Amy Dunham, a financial adviser with Edward Jones in Griffin, will present a public lecture Oct. 24 from 5:15-6:30 p.m. titled “Outlook and Opportunities: Preparing for the Road Ahead.” The talk will be held in room 115 of the Student Learning Center on the University of Georgia Griffin Campus.

Dunham will address basic investment education concerns, including examining the current economic climate and recovery. She also will offer her thoughts on how the re-election of President Barack Obama or the election of Mitt Romney might affect policy and investment decisions in the future.

“This is an opportunity for everyone in the community to gather information from a seasoned professional,” said Sophia Anong, an assistant professor of housing and consumer economics in the UGA College of Family and Consumer Sciences. “In addition, those attending can also learn more about the consumer economics major and financial planning emphasis offered at the Griffin campus.”

Dunham’s presentation is part of a course taught by Anong on saving and investing.

“Ms. Dunham’s presentation is part of our overall goal of increasing our visibility in the community,” she said. “Many people are aware of our campus due to its history as an agricultural experiment station, but UGA-Griffin offers a number of opportunities for students who want to complete the final two years of their undergraduate degrees or who want to explore graduate programs.”

The event is free and is co-sponsored by the UGA Parents and Family Association.
