Athens, Ga. – Effective Tuesday, April 3, the galleries at the Georgia Museum of Art at the University of Georgia will be open Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Thursdays, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.; and Sundays 1 to 5 p.m. Admission remains free and open to the public, with a suggested donation of $3. The museum will continue to be closed on Mondays.
Support for this project from the Office of the Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost has allowed more visitors to take advantage of the museum’s galleries. Previously, the lobby had been open at 10 a.m., but the galleries had remained closed until noon most days, and Tuesday had been reserved for UGA classes by appointment only.
Partial support for the exhibitions and programs at the Georgia Museum of Art is provided by the Georgia Council for the Arts through appropriations of the Georgia General Assembly. The council is a partner agency of the National Endowment for the Arts. Individuals, foundations and corporations provide additional museum support through their gifts to the University of Georgia Foundation. The Georgia Museum of Art is located in the Performing and Visual Arts Complex on the East Campus of the University of Georgia. The address is 90 Carlton Street, University of Georgia, Athens, Ga. 30602-6719. For more information, including hours, see www.georgiamuseum.org or call 706/542.GMOA (4662).
