Laurie Fowler and the U.S. Department of the Interior

Laurie Fowler, an associate dean of the Odum School of Ecology and co-director of the River Basin Center, received $60,000 from the U.S. Department of the Interior for an assessment of stream fish dynamics in the Apalachicola-Chattahoochee-Flint River basin. During the next year, RBC staff will collaborate with U.S. Geological Survey scientists to collect and analyze field data on the effect of stream-flow patterns on fish populations for differing regions of the ACF River basin. The data will help researchers and stakeholders better determine the effects of water level and flow variation on fish populations.
