Luther College Nordic Choir to perform Jan. 31

The Luther College Nordic Choir's program at UGA will include a cappella performances along with spirituals and classic works.

The Performing Arts Center will present the Luther College Nordic Choir on Jan. 31 at 8 p.m. in Hodgson Concert Hall.

Tickets are $15 for the general public and $5 for students. They can be purchased online at pac.uga.edu or by calling the Performing Arts Center box office at 706-542-4400.

The program will feature a cappella performances of “A Spotless Rose” by Paul Mealor and “Go Lovely Rose” by Eric Whitacre, along with spirituals and classic works.

Founded in 1946, the ­78-member Nordic Choir has an international reputation as one of the premier collegiate choirs in the U.S. The choir is conducted by Allen Hightower, director of choral activities and professor of music at Luther College.

Located in Decorah, Iowa, ­Luther is home to one of the largest collegiate music programs in the world with six choirs, three bands, three orchestras, two jazz bands and numerous chamber ensembles, totaling nearly
1,000 student ­musicians.

The Nordic Choir tours annually and has performed around the world.
