Media Advisory: UGA police training exercise to be held on campus Dec. 23

Athens, Ga. – On Tuesday, Dec. 23, a police training exercise will be held in the area of the Journalism Building on the University of Georgia campus. The exercise will begin around 1:30 p.m. and will end prior to 7 p.m.

The exercise will involve the University of Georgia Police Department and the Athens-Clarke County Police Department responding to a simulated emergency incident in the Journalism Building. As a result, there will be several police officers and emergency vehicles in the area around Hooper Street and Sanford Drive.

The exercise scenario will be limited to several stairwells and the fourth and fifth floors of the Journalism Building. These areas will be well-marked during the exercise with University personnel stationed to prevent entry into the exercise areas. No campus roadways will be closed as a result of this public safety exercise.
