New café opens at State Botanical Garden of Georgia

Athens, Ga. – The State Botanical Garden reopened its café today with Donderos’ Kitchen as its new vendor.

Donderos’ Kitchen is a locally owned business that serves freshly prepared international food. Its previous work at the State Botanical Garden includes catering meetings and wedding receptions.

“We are thrilled to work in the beautiful State Botanical Garden,” said Donderos’ Kitchen co-owner Anna Dondero. “Where better to enjoy a cup of mocha coffee than overlooking coffee and cocoa plants?”

The botanical garden café serves coffee beverages, housemade chai and hot chocolate, scones, muffins, sandwiches, quiches, salads, soups and snacks. Vegan menu items are also available. The café also offers free Wi-Fi.

The café’s vendor and menu are not the only items that received a makeover. “We have moved the café upstairs and added an art exhibit area and seating in the great room so that it is a much more active part of the garden,” said Wilf Nicholls, botanical garden director. The gift shop was also expanded and moved to the front lobby. It now includes a reading room and an assortment of handmade and locally made items.

Donderos’ Kitchen at the State Botanical Garden will be open Tuesdays through Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sundays from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Like the botanical garden, it will be closed for all UGA holidays.
