The UGA Performing Arts Center will present the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and Chorus April 27 at 8 p.m. in Hugh Hodgson Concert Hall. Music director Robert Spano will conduct the program, which includes A German Requiem by Johannes Brahms.

Tickets for the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra concert are $25-$65 and are discounted for UGA students. Tickets can be purchased at the Performing Arts Center box office, online at pac.uga.edu or by calling 706-542-4400.

This month marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of former ASO conductor and choral director, Robert Shaw. To commemorate the occasion, the orchestra will perform the Brahms Requiem in Carnegie Hall on April 30. Athens audiences will have the rare opportunity to hear the concert before the orchestra performs it in New York City.

The Athens concert will also include the Symphony No. 2, Innerspace, by Jonathan Leshnoff. Commissioned by Spano, the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and Carnegie Hall, Leshnoff’s Symphony No. 2 received its world premiere on Nov. 5, 2015, in Atlanta Symphony Hall.
