UGA College of Pharmacy welcomes 144 new students

The College of Pharmacy welcomed 144 new students in the fall of 2015 with its annual White Coat Ceremony.

Athens, Ga. – The University of Georgia College of Pharmacy welcomed 144 new students with its annual White Coat Ceremony held Aug. 15. At the event, the class of 2019 received white lab coats to mark the beginning of their pharmacy careers.

College of Pharmacy Alumni Council president James Holley was keynote speaker. Pharmacy coordinator Clinton Cain represented Kroger Pharmacy as sponsor of the event. Alumni council members Andre Mackey and John Drew assisted incoming students as they received their white coats.

Of the class’s 144 members, 66.7 percent are female; 31.9 percent are minorities; 50.7 percent have a bachelor’s degree or higher; 45.1 percent previously attended UGA; and 6.9 percent are from out-of-state. The students’ grade point average is 3.43, with an average PCAT, or Pharmacy College Admission Test, score in the 80th percentile.
