Renée Fleming is one of the most highly acclaimed singers of this time, performing on the stages of the world’s great opera houses and concert halls. She returns to the UGA Performing Arts Center on April 25 and 26 for a panel discussion and a recital with pianist Bradley Moore.

Panel Discussion: Music & Mind

Fleming is a leading advocate for the study of the powerful connections between the arts and human wellness. As part of her visit to UGA, she will present Music & Mind, a panel discussion with University of Georgia researchers and health practitioners whose work explores this burgeoning field. The event will be held April 25 at 5 p.m. at Ramsey Concert Hall.

Panelists include:

  • Anna Abraham, director, Torrance Center for Creativity and Talent Development
  • Stephen Correia, director of neuropsychology, Cognitive Aging Research and Education (CARE) Center
  • Ellyn H. Evans, assistant professor of music therapy, Hugh Hodgson School of Music

This event is part of the university’s Signature Lecture Series. Admission is free, and tickets are not required.

Recital: Voice of Nature: The Anthropocene

Fleming’s highly anticipated return to Hodgson Concert Hall offers a program of art songs and contemporary music that explores nature as both inspiration and casualty of humanity. Voice of Nature: The Anthropocene will take place April 26 at 7:30 p.m. at Hodgson Concert Hall. An original film by the National Geographic Society accompanies one half of the program, which ranges from operatic favorites to Björk. Tickets are required for this event.

This performance is supported by the Kleiner Foundation.
