Volunteers are being sought for a study currently under way at the Maternal and Child Nutrition Research Lab of the department of foods and nutrition in the College of Family and Consumer Sciences.
Pregnant women of gestational age not more than 36 weeks, who do not smoke, are free of chronic conditions and do not use steroids are qualified to participate. The study is focused on the effects of infant feeding on body composition of infants and their mothers.
The study is seeking both pregnant women who plan to breastfeed and those who plan to use formula to feed their newborns. The study will include body composition measurements and interviews. Mothers and their infants will be followed through three months after birth and will receive up to $150 in compensation.
