Six freshmen named 2010-2011 Goizueta Foundation Scholars

Six freshmen have been selected to receive the Goizueta Foundation Scholarship for the 2010-2011 academic year.

The scholarship provides $3,000 per year to undergraduates who are fluent in both written and spoken Spanish, have family who currently reside in the U.S. and have demonstrated financial need as determined by UGA’s Office of Student Financial Aid.

The scholarship is among a number of grants the Goizueta Foundation of Atlanta has awarded to UGA for enhancing educational opportunities for a more diverse student body, particularly undergraduates fluent in both written and spoken Spanish.

The scholarship is renewable for a maximum of three additional years if the recipients maintain certain academic standards and continue to have demonstrated financial need.

The Goizueta Foundation Scholarship recipients and their hometowns are: Estefania Gomez, Lawrenceville; Juliana Herrera, Lawrenceville; Niurklin Jimenez, Norcross; Felipe Pedraza, Sylvania; Maria Torres, Stockbridge; and Leslie Wright, Flowery Branch.
