TRS board votes to keep automatic cost of living increases for retirees

At its Nov. 19 meeting, the Teachers Retirement System of Georgia Board of Trustees voted unanimously to keep giving automatic twice-yearly cost of living adjustments to retirees.

Retirees will continue to receive 1.5 percent cost of living increases in January and July as there will be no change to the current policy.

The governor’s office had proposed a policy change calling for the board to vote yearly on whether or not to grant the increases instead of automatically awarding them.
