UGA basketball player named to 2018 Katrina McClain Award watch list

Caliya Robinson, a junior forward on the UGA women’s basketball team, has been named to the watch list for the inaugural Katrina McClain Award, putting her name among the top-20 power forwards in the country.

Named for UGA’s Katrina McClain, a two-time All-American, the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association National Player of the Year in 1987 and three-time Olympian, this honor is in its first year of existence.

The selection committee for the Katrina McClain Award is composed of top women’s college basketball personnel including media members, head coaches, sports information directors and Hall of Famers. In March, they will narrow the list down to five finalists before announcing the recipient during the 2018 NCAA Women’s Final Four.

This is the second recent honor for Robinson, who was named to the All-SEC second team by league coaches.
