UNC students can opt out of abortion coverage in health insurance

Students at the University of North Caroline who get health insurance through the institution now have the ability to drop the plan’s standard abortion coverage, The Chronicle of Higher Education reported.

The decision to allow the opt out came after students who oppose abortion complained about being required to purchase abortion coverage if they want to get it through the university system. The cost of the insurance, however, will be the same with or without abortion coverage, the Chronicle reported.
