The university hosted a reception on Nov. 3 to recognize fiscal year 2017 Presidents Club members. These leadership level donors collectively contributed over $146 million to the Commit to GeorgiaCampaign in FY17. More than 740 members attended the event, which was held in the Tate Student Center Grand Hall.

“What you do for this institution matters,” said UGA President Jere W. Morehead. “It matters to me. It matters to our faculty, staff and students. And it matters to the communities we serve across this state and around the world.”

Established in 1973, today the Presidents Club includes donors who give at least $1,500 each fiscal year. Members’ annual gifts are put to immediate use in areas that matter most to the donors. Presidents Club members are playing a leading role in advancing the university’s strategic priorities of increasing scholarship support for students, enhancing the learning environment and solving grand challenges.

Many faculty and staff choose to give at the annual leadership level. In fiscal year 2017, 452 Presidents Club members were current or retired faculty and staff.

“Through their support, Presidents Club members demonstrate a strong belief in the importance of world-class public higher education,” said Vice President for Development and Alumni Relations Kelly Kerner. “We are fortunate to have such commitment from these University of Georgia leaders.”
