Vince Dooley received 2005 Francis J. “Reds” Bagnell Award

Vince Dooley, former UGA head football coach and director of athletics, received the 2005 Francis J. “Reds” Bagnell Award from the Maxwell Club.

The award is given annually for contributions to the game of football by the Maxwell Club, which is headquartered in Philadelphia.

First given in 1989, the “Reds” Bagnell Award goes to an individual who has made a special impact on the game of football. Former recipients include former NFL commissioner Pete Rozelle, Penn State coach Joe Paterno, Pittsburgh Steelers owner Dan Rooney, former ABC-TV president Don Ohlmeyer, American Football League founder Lamar Hunt and Grambling football coach Eddie Robinson.
