From posters to oral presentations, University of Georgia undergraduates are sharing their research digitally this spring during the 2020 Virtual CURO Symposium, to be held on April 21-24 through UGA’s eLearning Commons.
Hosted by the Center for Undergraduate Research Opportunities, the symposium gives UGA students the opportunity to present their projects to faculty, graduate students and peers. It is open to all undergraduates pursuing faculty-mentored research in any discipline.
“We are excited that the virtual symposium will have the same kind of range of presentations that we have seen in past years,” said David S. Williams, associate provost and director of the Honors Program and CURO. “The digital format will also give attendees the opportunity to take in more presentations than they ever could have before.”
After the symposium was moved to an online, asynchronous format, students submitted videos and digital posters instead of preparing to share their research at a set time. When the symposium opens online on April 21 at 2 p.m., attendees will have the opportunity to view and comment on all of the presentations.
“During the virtual symposium, we encourage all participants, especially faculty mentors, to give feedback to the student presenters via the discussion boards,” said Maria Navarro, associate director of Honors and CURO.
Access to the symposium will close on April 24 at 5 p.m.
