Wendy B. Zomlefer, curator of the UGA Herbarium and associate professor of plant biology, has been elected president of the Southern Appalachian Botanical Society. Her two-year term will begin in April 2012.
Founded in 1935, the Southern Appalachian Botanical Society publishes the scientific journal Castanea. The Southern Appalachian Botanical Society has approximately 600 members including professional and amateur botanists from across the country.
