Georgia Chapter of American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers to meet April 19-21 at

Athens, Ga. – For 75 years, the Georgia Chapter of the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers has provided technical support and professional development certification. This year’s annual meeting of ASABE will celebrate the national society’s centennial in Athens at the State Botanical Gardens April 19-21.

The theme for this year’s technical sessions will be “Opportunities for Bioenergy Production in Georgia” and will highlight the state’s new energy policy and how agricultural and biological engineers are working to shape the energy production technologies of the future. The meeting will feature a tour of the UGA biofuel research facilities.

Guest speakers will include Shen Genxiang of the Shanghai Academy of Environmental Sciences. Genxiang will discuss environmental engineering projects and opportunities in China. A pre-conference professional development seminar will provide Level II design certification for Georgia’s recently enacted Erosion and Sediment Control Professional education program.
