Athens, Ga. – Allan Adams, interim director of the Small Business Development Center at the University of Georgia, will become SBDC state director effective July 1, pending approval by the University System of Georgia Board of Regents.
“As interim director, Allan did an outstanding job managing all aspects of a large and complex public service and outreach unit,” said Art Dunning, vice president for public service and outreach. “I look forward to his continuing excellence in making the Georgia SBDC Network the best it can be.”
Since April 2005, Adams has served as interim director of UGA’s SBDC, a business assistance provider for the U.S. Small Business Administration. The SBDC provides management training, technical assistance and research to small business owners through a network of 18 offices across the state.
Prior to joining the SBDC, Adams was associate director for Information Technology Outreach Services, a unit of the Carl Vinson Institute of Government.
He is currently a member of the Georgia Economic Developers Association, the Georgia Entrepreneurship and Small Business Coordinating Network, the Community Developers Forum and the Georgia Cities Foundation Advisory Board.
Adams is a doctoral student in UGA’s Institute of Higher Education. He earned a master of business administration degree from Brenau University and a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Georgia.
