Athens, Ga. – University of Georgia first-year student Lyndsey Renee Adams has been awarded a UGA Alumni Association Endowed Scholarship for the 2009-2010 academic year. Returning UGA student Eric D. Jones also received the award.
Adams, a Jackson County Comprehensive High School graduate from Hoschton, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Christopher and Jessica Adams. Jones, a Vidalia Comprehensive High School graduate from Hinesville, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Larry and Lueretha Stevens.
The UGA Alumni Association supports this scholarship, which usually recognizes one academically outstanding undergraduate first-year student, who demonstrates financial need. However, this year, a returning student also received the scholarship, which provides $5,000 per year in addition to the HOPE Scholarship.
The award can be renewed for up to three years, or until the student graduates, if the recipient maintains certain academic standards.
