2011 Miss UGA Outstanding Teen is crowned Miss Georgia Outstanding Teen

Athens, Ga. – Julia Rabon Martin, the 2011 Miss University of Georgia Outstanding Teen, has been crowned the 2011 Miss Georgia Outstanding Teen. Martin won the title at the Miss Georgia Scholarship Pageant June 18.

A 16-year-old honor student, Martin is the daughter of Joanna and Patrick Martin of Marietta. She will represent Georgia in the Miss America Outstanding Teen Pageant on August 20 in Orlando, Fla.

Martin also received top honors in the evening gown and talent competitions and was named “Most Photogenic.”

The oldest of four children, Martin attends North Cobb Christian School, where she is a member of the varsity soccer and swim teams and is a varsity football and competition cheerleader. She is a four-year Presidential Physical Fitness Recipient and has won first and second place titles at the Georgia Independent School Association and the North Atlanta Metro League swim meets.

A cellist, Martin plays with the Georgia Youth Symphony Orchestra and the North Cobb Christian School Concert Orchestra and Ensemble.

She hopes to attend the University of Georgia and obtain a law degree.

Martin’s personal platform is “Americans for the Arts,” a nonprofit organization for advancing the arts nationwide.She believes the arts have tremendous impact on growth and development and that every child should have access to arts education.

Previously, she has held the title of 2010 Miss Columbus Outstanding Teen.

The Miss UGA Outstanding Teen is affiliated with the Miss UGA Scholarship Pageant and is a program of the Department of Campus Life within UGA’s Division of Student Affairs.
