Administrative changes

Drake Bernstein, a member of UGA’s 2008 national champion men’s tennis team, has been named assistant women’s tennis coach.

A native of Winder, Bernstein returns to UGA after spending the past season as an assistant coach for the University of Alabama women’s tennis team. He graduated from UGA in May 2011 with a degree in sports studies.

Chris Haack, head coach of the men’s golf team also is now the director of golf. As such, he will serve as the liaison between the Athletic Association and the UGA Golf Course, will oversee the Boyd Center and the adjacent practice facilities and will be available as counsel to Josh Brewer, first-year head coach of the women’s golf team. In addition, Jim Douglas has been promoted to men’s associate head coach. He has logged two stints as Haack’s assistant coach, totaling
11 seasons.

Ele Ellis is the new program director at WUGA-FM, the university’s public radio station. Originally from Nashville, Tenn., Ellis worked as associate general manager/director of programming at Boise State Radio in Idaho and as program director at WNCW Radio in North Carolina. Along with programming, Ellis has public radio experience in traffic/operations, marketing, local program production and fundraising. She succeeds Robb Holmes, who recently retired after serving as music director and later as program director since the station began broadcasting
25 years ago. Holmes will continue to work part-time at the station as producer-host of the It’s Friday show.

Martin Rogers, who has served as assistant director of the Honors Program, was promoted to associate director of the Honors Program and the Center for Undergraduate Research Opportunities. Originally from Marlton, N.J., Rogers earned a bachelor’s degree in 1998 from Rowan University in Glassboro, N.J., and master’s and doctoral degrees from UGA in 2001 and 2010, respectively. He has been affiliated with the institution as an instructor, academic adviser and administrator since 2006.
