Deryl Bailey, an associate professor in the department of counseling and human development services, is the recipient of the 2011 Professional Advancement Award from the Association for Specialists in Group Work, a division of the American Counseling Association.
The annual award recognizes the outstanding activities of an individual who has helped advance the field of group work through research, development of a new technique or theory, public relations, legislative activities, or group work practice.
Bailey was recognized for his work as founder and director of Empowered Youth Programs. The award was presented to Bailey at the ASGW luncheon at the ACA conference in New Orleans on March 25.
