Bard College, in Annandale-on-Hudson, N.Y., offered high school seniors with average grades a chance to get into the school anyway.
In lieu of the traditional admissions application also offered, Bard College applicants could choose to write four essays that were 2,500 words each, according to a story by The New York Times. The essays were graded by professors, and whoever got an overall B+ score got in. Seventeen students of the overall 500 admitted this year got in based on the essays.
