Bethany Moreton, 2010 John Hope Franklin Publication Prize

Bethany Moreton, an assistant professor of history and women’s studies, has been awarded the 2010 John Hope Franklin Publication Prize from the American Studies Association for her book, To Serve God and Wal-Mart: The Making of Christian Free Enterprise.

She will officially receive the honor later this month at the ASA’s annual conference in San Antonio, Texas.

The John Hope Franklin Publication Prize is awarded annually for the best-published book in American studies. It includes a $750 prize. Chartered in 1951, the American Studies Association is the oldest and largest association devoted to the interdisciplinary study of American culture and history. It has 5,000 members and 2,200 library and other institutional subscribers.
