A dedication ceremony for the new Barrier Island Research and Learning Center was held last month on Sapelo Island. Helping to cut the ribbon on the $2.3 million facility were (from left) U.S. Rep. Jack Kingston, Garnett Stokes, dean of UGA’s Franklin College of Arts and Sciences, David Lee, UGA VP for research, UGA President Michael F. Adams, George Cathcart from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, William L. Miller, director of UGA’s Marine Institute, and UGA doctoral student Katherine E.A. Segarra.
