Pedro Portes, who holds the Goizueta Foundation Distinguished Chair for Latino Teacher Education in UGA’s College of Education and is director of the Center for Latino Achievement and Success in Education, has released a book that demonstrates how educators and policymakers should treat the intertwined nature of immigrant education and social progress to improve current policies and practices.
U.S. Latinization: Education and the New Latino South was co-edited by Spencer Salas, an associate professor of middle, secondary and K-12 education at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. It offers new insights addressing the cultural development of the U.S. as a result of increased Latino and Asian immigration.
