Letters to the Next President: What We Can Do About the Real Crisis in Public Education calls for education reform, including 45 letters addressed to the next elected president from citizens and educational officials concerned about the current state of the nation’s educational system.

In the book, education experts, public officials like Sen. John Glenn and former Sen. Jim Jeffords, teachers, students, parents and community leaders discuss how both state and federal education policies are hurting students and what can and should be done to improve the nation’s schools.

Carl Glickman, UGA’s Scholar-in-Residence in the Educational Administration and Policy Program, edited the updated version, which now includes a statement from 120 organizations determined to improve the nation’s schools and amend the No Child Left Behind policy. In addition, Letters gives parents and teachers ways to stay informed about current policies with a list of several educational organizations.
