The British government has announced plans to build 20 new universities within the next six years, The Chronicle of Higher Education reported.
Citing the need to increase enrollment in higher education throughout the country, the government plans to spend nearly $300 million to build the new campuses in hopes that enrollment of young people will increase from 43 to 50 percent. John Denham, secretary of state for innovation, universities and skills, will accept bids from local authorities and regional development agencies to build a campus or college in their area.
