UGA raised more than $420,000 for service agencies—many of them in the local area—through its annual charitable giving campaign. The 2010 Campaign for Charities total of $421,138.09 came within striking distance of the goal of $425,000.
“We knew that keeping the goal at $425,000 this year was aspirational, given the state of economy,” said campaign chair Laura Jolly, interim vice president for instruction and dean of the College of Family and Consumer Sciences. “To come 99 percent of the way toward reaching that goal is an extraordinary testament to the generosity of our faculty and staff and their commitment to the betterment of this community.”
Approximately 22 percent of the university’s faculty and staff contributed to the campaign. While that participation rate is down slightly from the previous year, UGA’s 2,262 donors increased their giving levels.
