The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center is coming back to Athens to perform the Payne Memorial Concert on Sept. 12. Named for William Jackson Payne, the dean who founded the Franklin College Chamber Music Series, the concert is free and begins at 7:30 p.m. in Hodgson Concert Hall.
The program will include trios by Beethoven, Saint-Saëns and Mendelssohn. Pianist and Chamber Music Society co-artistic director Wu Han will perform, along with violinist Arnaud Sussman and cellist David Requiro.
A pre-performance talk will be given by Teresa Chafin, a graduate music student at the University of Georgia. The talk begins at 6:45 p.m. in Ramsey Concert Hall.

The concert will be recorded for broadcast on American Public Media’s “Performance Today,” the most popular classical music program in the U.S.
