Illinois’ budget gridlock claimed the spring break plans of students at Chicago State University.
An eight-month-long impasse over the state budget has held up funds for Illinois’ public colleges, causing a shortage on cash.
To handle budget demands, Chicago State University canceled its weeklong break, instead holding a regular week of classes to shorten the semester and conserve funds for faculty payroll and student scholarships.
The university also halted construction plans and shortened library hours, according to a story by CNN.
