The University Childcare Center will host open houses on Dec. 10 from 9 a.m.-noon and Dec. 13 from 5-7 p.m. in the new facility located at 111 Bowstrom Rd. on the Health Sciences Campus. Guests are asked to enter Bowstrom Road from Prince Avenue.
UCC director Nadia Perez and her staff, along with Wes Zwirn of Prodigies Child Care Management, LLC, the provider of childcare services for the new center, will give tours of the facility and answer any questions that parents and children have concerning the center’s daily operation.
Families who already have enrolled will receive parents’ handbooks and other important forms. Those wishing to register may do so during the open house.
The University Childcare Center will open on the Health Sciences Campus on Jan. 3 and childcare will be available to children of faculty, staff and students as well as children from the community if space allows. The center will serve up to 146 children ages 6 weeks through 4 years of age weekdays from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Some part-time slots also are available. Up to 20 percent of the children may qualify for a discounted rate based on family income. The center will be licensed by the Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning and will meet the National Association for the Education of Young Children standards in the areas of curriculum and staffing including student-to-teacher ratios, group size and continuing education for teachers.
