The SAT college entrance exam is getting a makeover for 2016, according to the College Board.
The new exam is returning to the older 1600 scoring scale. The essay version of the test now will be optional and graded separately from the other two portions of the exam: 1) math and 2) reading and writing.
The College Board also announced that vocabulary for the SAT will “no longer be vocabulary students may not have heard before and are not likely to hear again.” Instead, the organization said it will focus on words the students will use in college and beyond.
