College of Education assistant professor selected for program

Sycarah Fisher

Sycarah Fisher, an assistant professor in the department of educational psychology in the Mary Frances Early College of Education, was selected for admission into the 2020 class of the Center for Underrepresented Research in Addiction program.

CURA is a National Institute on Drug Abuse-supported program that aims to promote the advancement of promising minority junior faculty members in drug addiction research. With her acceptance into the program, Fisher will have access to several enrichment opportunities including attendance to the CURA Conference, sponsored attendance to the national 2020 conference, sponsored attendance to a professional activity of choice and a grant writer’s book.

Fisher’s research focuses on improving life outcomes for diverse populations, including adolescent substance use, adolescent mental health, school-based prevention and interventions, minority populations, implementation science and health services research.
