Architectural and cultural historian Judi Loach will give a lecture March 24 at 5 p.m. in Room 123 of the Jackson Street Building. A professor at Cardiff University in Wales, Loach will discuss “Celebrating the Architectural Legacy of the Modern Movement.” Open free to the public, the lecture will be followed by a reception. Both events are sponsored by the College of Environment and Design and the Student Historic Preservation Organization.
Loach is chair of the British chapter of DOCOMOMO, an international organization devoted to the documentation and conservation of buildings, sites and neighborhoods of the modern movement. In her lecture, Loach will discuss the organization’s efforts to preserve important 20th-century architecture in Britain and to encourage greater public appreciation and awareness of this legacy.
