Grad student found dead on campus

Lynwoodt Bernard Jenkins, a graduate teaching assistant in the department of theatre and film studies, died of a heart attack and was found Jan. 25 in Room 203 of the Fine Arts Building.

Jenkins, who had a role in the upcoming University Theatre production of Ruined, was a 44-year-old student who had a history of serious heart conditions, according to UGA police. He also acted in previous UGA stagings of the Greek tragedy Eurydice, an adapted form of Arabian Nights and Spunk, a play adapted from three stories by famed author Zora Neale Hurston.

According to reports, Jenkins lived on campus and was a second-year student in the master of fine arts program. He was first identified as missing when classmates noticed he didn’t show up for rehearsals Jan. 24. Police discovered his body the next day, and a subsequent medical examination confirmed his death by cardiac arrest.
