Ed Jackson, senior public service associate emeritus at the Carl Vinson Institute of Government, received a new award from the North American Vexillological Association in recognition of his technical assistance to the Georgia General Assembly earlier this year in its lengthy debate over a new state flag.
NAVA established the award in 2003 to recognize significant and successful acts of vexillology, involving flag design and usage in North America. Jackson is widely respected for his knowledge and expertise related to the history of the state flags of Georgia. He is the author of Flags That Have Flown Over Georgia, a publication of the Office of the Secretary of State.
