Matthew Waller, a former student affairs administrator at the University of Chicago, is the new assistant to Victor Wilson, the vice president for student affairs at UGA.
The chief of staff in the Division of Campus and Student Life at the University of Chicago, Waller has served in a variety of communications, external affairs and student affairs roles at the University of Pennsylvania and the University of Central Florida. “Mr. Waller’s strong blend of diverse proficiencies will contribute greatly to the energy and professionalism of the student affairs central office,” Wilson said. “His extensive skills also will assist me in organizing the myriad details of managing the important work of our division as well as working with our numerous campus partners.”
Waller’s day-to-day duties will include direct support to the vice president, including research, preparation of briefing materials and writing of reports, letters, background papers and other official documents. He also will assist with division-wide planning and reporting communications; assist with coordination of community building activities; serve as an advocate for multiple student populations; participate in budget development, strategic planning and goal setting; and contribute to the collaborative efforts to enhance the total educational experience for all UGA students.
