Faculty grant proposals

The Office of the Vice President for Instruction, in collaboration with the Office of the Provost, is accepting proposals until April 8 for summer 2013 Innovative Instruction Faculty Grants. Ten grants of $5,000 each will be awarded. The grants may be used for summer salary or in other ways that support faculty innovative instruction projects. All full-time faculty are eligible to apply.

The grants provide an opportunity for faculty to improve teaching and learning through innovative instructional projects, such as redesign of course curricula/ materials, integration of new techniques/pedagogical strategies into a course or exploration of a new instructional technique. Proposals focused on improving instruction in high-demand courses (large lecture classes, courses involving multiple sections, general education courses) as well as proposals that integrate instructional technology in courses are encouraged.

Interested faculty are asked to provide a brief proposal (one to two pages) outlining their innovative instruction project. The proposal should include the faculty member’s name, department and contact information. It also should include a description of the innovative instructional project, including a statement of purpose/significance of the project; goals and objectives; how the project will enhance student learning; and an implementation plan outlining how the goals will be met.

Submit proposals to Mary Whitehead at mwhitehd@uga.edu. Recipients will be notified no later than the week of April 22.
