Athens, Ga. – Four finalists for the position of vice president for instruction at the University of Georgia will visit campus in the coming weeks to meet with members of the university community.
A committee chaired by Jennifer Frum, vice president for public service and outreach, conducted a national search to identify the finalists and was assisted by the UGA Search Group in Human Resources.
Each finalist will make a public presentation from 9:30-10:30 a.m. in the Grand Hall of the Tate Student Center. The finalists and the dates of their presentations are:
- Bernard Mair, professor of mathematics and associate provost for undergraduate affairs at the University of Florida, Oct. 27.
- Ronald Cervero, professor of lifelong education, administration and policy and associate vice president for instruction at UGA, Oct. 29.
- Rahul Shrivastav, professor and chair of the department of communicative sciences and disorders at Michigan State University, Nov. 5.
- Robin Wright, professor and head of the department of biology teaching and learning and senior associate dean for undergraduate initiatives at the University of Minnesota, Nov. 10.
The Office of the Vice President for Instruction supports and enhances teaching and learning at UGA, with particular emphasis on undergraduate education. The vice president for instruction reports directly to the provost and oversees academic honesty policy and procedures, the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, the Air Force and Army ROTC, the Center for Teaching and Learning, the Office of Curriculum Systems, the Division of Academic Enhancement, Extended Campuses, the First-Year Odyssey Seminar Program, Learning Communities, the Office of Online Education, the Office of STEM Education, the Office of Student Financial Aid, the Office of the Registrar, the pre-law and pre-medical studies programs, the Washington Semester Program and-jointly with the Office of the Vice President for Public Service and Outreach-the Office of Service-Learning.
