Much of the work of Finance and Administration employees occurs behind the scenes, but in mid-May, staff members in the division stepped into the spotlight during three events to thank them for their service.

Hairy Dawg was the main attraction at the division-wide ice cream social, which featured a tropical theme. Nearly 600 F&A employees—from Auxiliary and Administrative Services, Budgets, the Controller’s Division, Environmental Safety, Human Resources, Physical Plant and University Architects—attended and were served ice cream by the senior staff.

More than 275 staff members were honored for dedication and meritorious service at the annual recognition ceremony in Hodgson Hall. Ten employees achieved the pinnacle honor of 30 years of service and received UGA rocking chairs to commemorate the milestone. They are Edwin Fowler and Phillip O’Neal, Physical Plant; Christy Coddington, Controller’s Division; Tom Branch, University Architects; Mamie Allen, Pamela Haley and Michael Moore of the Physical Plant; and Alice Collins, J.W. King Jr. and Mary Parrish of Auxiliary and Administrative Services. Also, four employees were nominated and selected by their peers to receive merit awards for outstanding service. They are Chris Wilkins, Controller’s Division, who received the Tough Dawg Award; Celise Elder, Controller’s Division, who received the Unsung Hero Award; Jimmy Lipham, UGACard Services/Bulldog Bucks, who received the Newcomer Award; and Gregg Hudson, Food Services, who received the Customer Service Award.

“Finance and Administration’s commitment to stewardship and service is embodied in every person honored today,” said Tim Burgess, senior vice president at the ceremony. “You perform a massive amount of quiet, behind-the-scenes work each and every day. What you do is vital to the effectiveness of this campus. It matters.”

In addition, a record 85  employees took part in the day-long orientation program “New to F&A Day.”
