In its January meeting, the University System of Georgia Board of Regents approved the four institutions created over the last year from the consolidation of eight and appointed the presidents to lead them.
The regents appointed Ricardo Azziz president of Georgia Regents University, John Black as interim president of Middle Georgia State College, Virginia Carson as president of South Georgia State College and Bonita Jacobs as president of the University of North Georgia.
The regents’ decision means the affected institutions will now operate under their new names and missions.
