Georgia board of regents approve new medical university name

The University System of Georgia Board of Regents recently approved a request to change the name of the Medical College of Georgia to the Georgia Health Sciences University, a USG press release reported.

The board’s action, while changing the name of the broader institution, will however still allow the name Medical College of Georgia to be applied to the university’s school of medicine. Both the MCG Health System and MCG Health will retain their current names, the release stated.
