University highlights, achievements, awards and scholarships:

Volunteering has played an integral part of my college experience. I have served as mentor and a tutor and been a part of dance marathon for the past four years. As an officer for the Leonard Leadership Scholars program, I have helped organize a number of community efforts including a community playground build, a UGA visit day for Clarke County High School students, and a leadership assembly for high school students. Recently I was honored with the undergraduate community service award from the Southern Business Administration Association. Also over the past four years I have been involved in a number of different organizations on campus including Phi Mu sorority, Toastmasters, the International Business Society, and Terry Dean’s Council. I studied abroad in Spain one summer and this past summer I received the opportunity to work for Coca-Cola’s federal government relations division as part of the Honors in Washington D.C. program. Both summers were incredible educational experiences in distinct ways.

I chose to attend UGA because…

I originally wanted to go to a small school and the University of Georgia was just a place to stop on my college tour. Once I saw Athens though, I fell in love with UGA. It offered the perfect combination of the facilities and excitement of a large school and through the Honors program, I can get the smaller classes and superior academics.

My favorite things to do on campus are…

I love walking across Sanford bridge and taking in the view of the empty stadium in the morning sun. There is no sight that can give you more of a “Wow! College is awesome” feeling. Also on pretty days, I love to go play frisbee or football with friends at the intramural fields.

When I have free time, I like…

…to catch up with friends, travel, read, run, or paint.

The craziest thing I’ve done is…

…go surfing off the coast of Portugal when I studied abroad in Spain. We surfed off a beach that was believed to be the end of world at one time. It was the most incredible rush of my life.

My favorite place to study is…

…north campus. Although maybe not the most productive environment, it is definitely the most beautiful.

My favorite professor is…

…David Mustard. His law and economics class was the most interesting class I have taken at UGA. He also serves as my faculty mentor for the thesis I am currently working on for CURO, and he has been a tremendous help to me in so many ways.

If I could share an afternoon with anyone, I would love to share it with…

…my grandfather. I have never met him, but my dad is the best father I could ever ask for so he must have had a great role model. I would love to spend the afternoon getting to know him.

After graduation, I plan to…

…move to South America, probably Buenos Aires. I want to teach English and volunteer for a year or so. I think this experience will greatly benefit me because I will become fluent in Spanish. Also by getting outside of my comfort zone, I hope to learn a lot about myself and what I want out of life. After this experience I would like to go to graduate school, possibly in public policy.
