Grady graduates offer tips for reporting on COVID-19 from home

Because of COVID-19 and social distancing measures, journalists are having to innovate new ways of reporting. Grady College’s health and medical journalism program asked some of its graduates to describe their day-to-day routines and offer tips in navigating through the new normal.

Alumnae noted the challenges of work during this time, such as reporting from home, gaining access to experts like doctors and epidemiologists, and coming up with new angles to the COVID-19 beat. To overcome them, they suggested looking to the key players in news reporting. They also talked about localizing the story and contextualizing the numbers.
