Fifty-nine-year-old Mike Flynt missed playing college football so much that he decided to play one last season for his alma mater, Sul Ross State University, The Chronicle of Higher Education reported.
Flynt, who is now a grandfather, was a starting linebacker for the Texas university in 1969 and 1970, but was kicked off the team in 1971 after repeatedly getting into fights. Now, with one year of eligibility left, Flynt is taking the field again, this time as a special-teams player, while he works on his master’s degree. On Oct. 13, Flynt and Sul Ross defeated Texas Lutheran University, 45-42, after two overtime periods.
